Leo punish the good

Leo Messi

Lionel Messi has been fined 2,000 euros and a yellow card. The reason: getting off to reveal a message. One would think that the message was "I hate England" or "down the smoking ban, but none of that. In Leo's message was not negative words has never been to one, at least publicly. Not for the English, and why the Argentines are being killed from the Falkland Islands. Nor was there any political claim under 10 Barça shirt. Only one tender as harmless message: "Happy birthday, Mom."

What is punishable by a message like that? I wish all the children we remember to congratulate our mother. I am among those who never remember. You might think "you are a 0 as a child," because maybe yes. But surely you have not scored a goal in the Nou Camp to spend with your mother. Messi because he did against Racing Santander, because it is a great goalscorer and a better son. Nice, right? So why the Committee fined Leo congratulate his "mommy"? Perhaps because the RFEF are more than mother-father, but I do not.

The problem is the rules or, rather, the systematic application has been made of it. In Article 91.1 criminalizes the display of any symbol, design or theme, whatever the content or purpose, regarding it as "serious misconduct." Well hopefully will see more "serious misconduct" as this in a sport so lacking in affection. And I do not say Mourinho and Valdano, in relationships do not enter. The times I've heard about the importance of football to teach values to society. Many times, coming from members of the federation, it now punishes Messi. And last season he did with Cristiano Ronaldo, the Madrid-Villareal. The Real Madrid showed a second shirt with the message "Madeira" in support of the island Lusa, by those terrible floods of February 2010. Maybe the referee did not pick up on the score sheet, as it has happened to Leo. But if we go strictly by the manual, Christian should have been sanctioned. It would be ridiculous, right?

As had been that Iniesta was penalized for taking the World Cup goal to his friend Dani Jarque. What a pity, would have undermined the best messages that a player could send the whole world of love and friendship. But that proved to be FIFA better than to the federation, who also remembered when Joseph Alley values showed a picture of Jarque. It was this season in the Spanish-Almería. Fortunately, the Appeals Committee withdrew the 3,000 euros fine after Espanyol club's claim. The message is not to compare Messi to Iniesta, Alley or Christian. Just expressing my bewilderment to enact gestures like Messi or Cristiano Alley. Do not say that the sport should convey positive values to society?

To avoid nonsense like this, the Committee should distinguish between messages that deserve punishment and those without. Moreover, I propose to organize a special trophy to the more positive conclusion. This will reward the player in the celebrations convey the best value for society. Piqué I imagine celebrating his goal with a shirt underneath that read: "Condom forever." That would be a good value to instill in young people. Or Jorge Valdano, in full institutional declaration, opened his jacket to display a "Read mola." Or if you are breast width: "Literature is a dream guide, which is longer and sounds more like Valdano. Although in reality, that phrase is fellow writer Jorge Luis Borges and, perhaps the federation, but the SGAE itself as you'll be fine.
