There is no doubt that Messi is a different player. He's talented with the ball at his feet and has a killer instinct. In 2009 he made it clear that it was the best in the world, but in 2010 his fellow Barcelona, Xavi and Iniesta, exceeded the achievements obtained following the World Cup with Spain. Was it fair to grant him the Golden Ball Messi and Xavi or Iniesta not?
The Spanish media is blunt: injustice when choosing the winner of the 2010 Golden Ball. Because individual level both Xavi and Iniesta and Messi made it clear they are great players wearing the shirt of Barcelona. However, when the Spanish reached the World Cup unfolded the same level of play in his club, while Messi was overshadowed by his lack of scoring and not to offset both the selection of Argentina as they usually do in Barcelona. That was perhaps the best argument for both Xavi and Iniesta were made to creditors over Messi award.
But there's more. Apart from Xavi and Iniesta were other players who had a great 2010. I limit myself to two examples. The first is that of Wesley Sneijder. The Dutchman was a cornerstone of who won the scudetto Inter in Serie A and Champions League. To make matters worse was runner-up in South Africa demonstrated a high level of play.
Meanwhile, Iker Casillas confirmed to be one of the best goalkeepers in the world both Real Madrid and the Spanish team. It mattered little: the lack of titles Madrid took his chance to clinch the award.
Messi makes history by winning for the second straight year the Golden Ball in the eyes of many experts who claim the award as unfair. You dear reader, what is your opinion?
