Portugal 2-1 Holland: Ronaldo Sobrado

Cristiano Ronaldo

A few days ago, saying Cristiano Ronaldo as the disappointment of the Day 2 good chances for their wrong against Denmark, just that paragraph by saying that "would not be surprising that before we leave Holland a couple of goals to tip." And so it proved. Cristiano Ronaldo has taken the last game of the group stage to shake all the reviews, rated to Portugal for the quarter-finals of Euro 2012 , and starring in the best individual performance so far this tournament.

2-1 win against Holland with Cristiano Ronaldo absolutely authoritarian in the game, scoring two goals for his team, smashing two balls to the pole, lead every play Benfica's attack and especially playing with collective mentality. Of course, there have been several occasions where action has been addressed with staff, but always with justification. When should have done, learned to use his teammates.

The Oranje defense, a gift to Christian

Holland issues are numerous, but one of the most serious is their defensive frailties. Christian has been able to read the game and has multiplied these weaknesses of the opponent. Continued increases in Oranje side were barren in terms of offensive production, but left some holes in the back that Cristiano and Nani have used again and again to strike back. I lost count of the times when Christian has faced the Dutch central to finish shooting or focused, depending on the profile in which it is located.

Van der Vaart option

Van Marwijk left the duties for the last day, and as usual, was late. After two meetings too attached to your outline, Portugal decided to give input to Huntelaar, to serve as a reference and give more freedom to Van Persie. The Schalke almost did not get a ball. When we noticed most was that if Van der Vaart to replace Van Bommel.

His presence was necessary to find continuity in the game, ball out from behind, better movement. The Spurs were the best of his team ahead of their own with an excellent left-footed shot from outside the area. Only the post prevented him from scoring the second, in a move very similar to the first goal, but this time striking with his right hand leg.

Robben disappointing

Disappeared during the entire tournament. Far from the Netherlands almost proclaims World Champion in 2010. You might still missed penalty in the Champions League final rondándole head. The fact is that we have not seen Robben in any of these three games.

And that's a problem because when Robben is not able to bring things to your computer, remove them to make matters worse. His individualism is so great that in his bad days hurts an awful lot to the group, clogging the game and each move leading to nothing. It is not the only guilty of very poor role of Holland in this Euro, but certainly we are looking at a major championship disappointing.

And now what?

Portugal, which has now signed his best game so far, is suddenly in the quarterfinals to face a Czech Republic which, in theory, should be overcome to stand comfortably in the semifinals. Having been able to survive the group of death when the vast majority gave no options, what can aspire Portugal?

Well, everything. It is still a team with many flaws, but has several features that allow it to be a candidate in a competition and short: an extremely solid defense, Pepe is doing a fantastic tournament-a hardworking midfield and Cristiano Ronaldo tip if you have the day alone can win any match.
