Euro 2012: The stars of the day 3

Cristiano Portugal

Best player: Cristiano Ronaldo

Was expected and appeared. Portugal needed his star to enter the next round and crack Luso completed a great individual performance to score two goals to overthrow the Netherlands and seal the ticket to the quarterfinals. Always at the center of the storm, blame if things go wrong and hero of the opposite: the role of leader of the combined Luso. I needed vindication after a poor performance against Denmark and made by far, showing a physical superiority difficult to see at this point in the season and always carrying danger to Stekelenburg's goal: besides the two goals fired two shots into the club.

The surprise: Lars Bender

The decline in Jerome Boateng on the right side was solved by Löw Germanic with an alternative that had been raised earlier: that of putting the midfielder Lars Bender, Bayer Leverkusen, at right, and this risky gamble did not pay out better, Bender then scored the second goal for Germany, which gave peace to yours to spend as leaders quarterfinals accumulating all points at stake. A good move of the German coach to reinvent the Leverkusen player in the side with good output and meets ball on defense.

Disappointment: The Russian stars

They started the tournament beating people so brilliant and placing the Czech Republic to Russia in the hype of possible revelations of the tournament as it did four years ago, but Dzagoev, Arshavin, Zhirkov or disappeared from the map Kerzhakov to Greece and did not prevent the surprise the elimination of their own in a group that seemed to favorites occupy the first place. The tournament players like Dzagoev has been one of the pleasant surprises of this Championship, but did not reach enough continuity to carry on wings to Russia to the quarterfinals.

The best goal: Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Perhaps the best in the tournament. Ibrahimovic leaves of this Championship with two goals to his credit, the second of them beautifully crafted to France after a pass from the right which topped the volley to beat Lloris, who was powerless to prevent the goal. Ibra, after possibly the best year of his career at the individual level, thus leaving their mark on European Championship in which it is the feeling that Sweden has escaped a classification that was in the hands after leading shocks and England against Ukraine to finally lose. In the last game, and without pressure, Blanc were unable to break them.
