Mestalla or Calderon: possible scenarios Cup final

Little by little it is defining what stage will host the final of the Copa del Rey. Cornellá discarded, the Vicente Calderon and Mestalla are two possible alternatives to host the match between FC Barcelona and Athletic Pep Guardiola Marcelo Bielsa.

In yesterday, Jorge Carretero, a spokeswoman for the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), had said that Calderon and Mestalla Cornellá were three possible scenarios for the final of the Copa del Rey. However in Espanyol's website was published a press release, stating that the stadium was not offered to host the party. Earlier, Real Madrid had refused to give the Bernabeu because of the planned works.

The stadium of Valencia is the most advantageously running to become home to the final, because the Calderon has less availability: 20 May there will be a concert at the stadium and could only host the game if played on the 25th .

However, Carter said he will not come to a definition until Barça and Athletic in deciding on the matter (it is estimated that they will do this week). "Nothing is decided yet until we meet with the clubs and put on the table that there are alternatives and they decide," said the spokesman.

Calderon and Mestalla have a similar capacity: at the stadium of 55,000 spectators fit Valencia and Atletico in Madrid, 54,851. If elected Mestalla will be the second consecutive year that the final of the Cup be played there.
