Can you imagine, with even ten years old, playing a Saturday morning with your team and the opponent suddenly leave the country with Motorhead logo on the shirt to the rhythm of Ace of Spades? Or better yet, can you imagine being part of that team? In Lincoln, England, yes. This happened a few years ago when the whole fry of Greenbank FC was sponsored by the legendary English band of Heavy Metal / Hard Rock Motorhead in his black uniform wearing the Snaggletooth, the group's logo. In this way, the kids jumped into the field while the speakers sounded Ace of Spades, one of his most iconic songs.
The reason is none other than Gary Weight, computer technician, had worked for the group as a tour manager in the '80s and came up with the idea of taking on the shirt the Snaggletooth, and so he proposed to Lemmy Kilmister, leader band, who was delighted to accept the proposal. According to Weight, the target was none other than scare the opponent while jumping to the lawn. They were not all bad: that year the team finished second in the league.
The matter was much discussed by the English media, but it did not stop there: Steve Harris, founder of another legendary band like Iron Maiden, contacted the Greenbank to play a game (which were eventually two) sponsored enfrentase to Motörhead with the computer playing his son and is also sponsored their own: the Maiden Youth. That certainly was a single party: two legendary Metal bands competing across 22 kids and a ball. Not know the outcome, but one thing we do know: the future of Rock is assured.
And here you have the issue with the Greenbank FC jumped onto the field to eat his opponents:
