Malaga will play the Champions League

First time ever

It is the first time the Malaga gains access to the Champions League. The Andalusian side had played the UEFA Cup in the 2002/2003 season (after winning the Intertoto Cup), but never the Champions.

Not the first team debut in the Champions League: FC Nordsjælland Nordsjælland of Denmark and France Montpellier HSC are also debutants in this contest. Both teams have access to the Champions League after winning their respective countries.
